This is because marriage is the process of uniting two individuals with different personalities, genders, backgrounds, family of origins, life orientations and belief system into one team sharing their visions and aspirations and willing to share their lives. The word marriage is a derivative of the French word “Mari” which means to glue together. Anything glued together loses it freedom and individuality. Marriage succeeds only when it is purposefully engaged, and intentionally utilized to pursue a mutually agreed and shared vision. Another way to put it is that marriage only works for couples who work on, and with their marriage.
